30th Anniversary
Telekom Headquarters Bonn
Deutsche Telekom celebrated its 30th birthday from July 10 to 12. The enterprise, which emerged from the reform of the German Federal Post Office in 1995, has developed into Europe’s most successful telecommunications group. The celebrations marking the 30th anniversary began on Thursday with a ceremony at the company’s headquarters in Bonn.
Conclusion
“It was wonderful to meet former colleagues again in person and talk about our long and fruitful collaboration. I have truly unforgettable and lasting memories of DT AG and Global One, and I learned valuable lessons. In summary, it can be noted that the assets of telcos is not CPE, routers, switches, DSL, MPLS, etc., but rather the people you have gotten to know and with whom you have worked so appreciatively.” ~ Dr. Thomas Fabula

“Taking digital future into own hands”
“When we look at our telecommunications company today, we cannot imagine it any other way. But our success, our transformation from a government agency to the world’s most valuable telecommunications brand, is no accident. It is the result of confidence, perseverance, and belief in our own future,” says Telekom CEO Tim Höttges. “The common thread that runs through our company has a name: change. And this change was shaping. It was decision-making, it was action, and it was the passion of the people.”
Venue
Deutsche Telekom’s anniversary celebrations took place at its headquarters in Bonn.
History
The development of Deutsche Telekom, which in 1995 was still predominantly active at the national level, has been very impressive. Since then, the number of customers has risen from around 37 million to around 300 million in Europe and the US. Revenue grew from around €34 billion to around €116 billion. While the company was valued at around €40 billion in 1995, its market capitalization today is around €152 billion. This means that Deutsche Telekom is now worth more than all other European telco companies combined.

1998 Broadband communication between Berlin and Bonn
In February 1998, the German Federal Ministry of the Interior awarded Deutsche Telekom AG the contract to implement an highly-secure information network between Berlin and Bonn (IVBB) following the government’s relocation. Telekom was tasked with providing an exclusive fiber-optic infrastructure, transmission and switching technology, and a state-of-the-art network management system for communication between federal authorities. The sites were connected with a bandwidth of up to 155 Mbit/s based on ATM and ISDN technology for approximately 30,000 users at 100 locations.
Berlin Bonn information network
“The Berlin–Bonn Information Network (IVBB) was a information network of the federal government for networking the supreme federal authorities. Like the Information Network of the Federal Administration (IVBV), the IVBB was one of the cornerstones of administrative modernization within the framework of the BundOnline 2005 initiative. Both the IVBB and the IVBV were migrated to the federal networks, which went live on July 2019.”
