The year 2023 in spotlights
As the year is coming to an end, it is time to review and evaluate the past year. In 2023, we were very engaged and successful in various projects, both with our clients and in the social, and philanthropic sector, including Rotary Cologne and the ReDI School NRW for Digital Integration in Düsseldorf. We have compiled an overview of some of the year’s major highlights below. We hope you enjoyed them as much as we did.
Moments that were close to our hearts
Proud of our 22nd anniversary
A special milestone for us in November was that we have now been providing our clients with highly sophisticated services in various high-tech sectors, which today are more commonly referred to as deep tech, for over 22 years.
High-Performance-Teams
Another special moment was the 40th anniversary of reaching the world championship final in Taekwondo. The universal values of this dynamic Korean martial art have accompanied us to this day and enable us to achieve goal-oriented success even in very challenging business situations.
AI community meetups
The Cologne AI ML meetups take place regularly at very interesting companies, where outstanding speakers provide insights into their current challenges. After the speakers’ presentations, the networking session is always a special highlight, where we have always been able to make very good contacts.
Numerical modeling of micro sensors
The requirements for the design of MEMS sensors to take into account superimposed non-linear effects, anisotropic material properties and the piezoelectric interactions in multilayer systems necessitate the use of sophisticated computer-aided numerical calculation methods. The ability of the finite element method (FEM) to perform coupled field calculations (multiphysics) allows the behavior of piezoelectrically driven sensors to be modeled. This makes it possible to derive important required specifications for the subsequent technological semiconductor process steps as early as the design phase.
Rotarian honor
Social responsibility always pays off, as is the way here at Rotary International: our decades-long commitment to providing targeted support to talented young people who want to make a positive difference in the world has once again been recognized. Instead of talking, lead by example: “We are People of Action”.
Digital integration challenges
Under the motto “Managing multi-disciplinary challenges”, we supported the young team at the ReDI School NRW in Düsseldorf on a voluntary basis. In doing so, we looked at the challenges that young professionals face on a daily basis. We focused on the problems and questions that were illustrated in the training program with real-life examples.
Microsystems technology
Why do physics and microsystems technology form a good school of thinking? After several decades, we can conclude in retrospect that high-tech research fields such as laser physics and highly integrated microsystems technology (MEMS), combined with the scientific mindset of the physicist, ensure successful work in the deep tech sector. Together with our clients, we have been able to work on developing and putting into operation very sophisticated and innovative solutions.
ML applications & operations
Not only the development & coding, but also the use and operation “as a service” of machine learning (ML) are important for successful AI problem solutions. As part of the Cologne CAIML meetup, it was a wonderful opportunity to meet in person again after the Corona break for a stimulating exchange of ideas and inspiring discussions.
