Generative AI
1st Barcamp in Cologne
On May 3, the first AI Barcamp took place at the Startplatz in Cologne, attended by around 40 AI enthusiasts, experts and interested parties from various fields and backgrounds.
Over the course of the day, the barcamp contributions and discussions resulted in a variety of very lively and interactive sessions. The topics ranged from the use of AI for schools (platform) to the manufacturing industry to insurance and photography & art, as well as the tuning of AI models and innovative business models with chatbots.

Conclusion and summary
It was a very good and interactive event with good opportunities for personal and professional exchange with each other and in the individual session groups.

The planning at the beginning is the most important thing at a barcamp, so quick lightning talks (3 or 5 minutes each) should also be planned in order to be able to briefly present the ideas and presentations to the audience that did not make it to a full session (45 minutes).
“The goal of lightning talks is to articulate a topic in a quick, insightful, and clear manner. These concise and efficient talks are intended to gain the attention of the audience, communicate key information, and allow for several presenters to share their ideas in a brief period of time” ~ Wikipedia
This would ensure that the subsequent professional networking can take place in a better and more targeted manner … perhaps as a suggestion for improvement for the next Barcamp 😉
Furthermore, practical GenAI implementation experiences, further use cases from different sectors and industries, as well as recommendations for further AI tools and frameworks (IDE, low-code environments, etc.), and tips on open source software should be communicated and documented (e.g. GitHub, etc.).
Thanks again for the excellent organization & the delicious catering and the many motivated contributors, as well as continued success in supporting the further development of the AI community in Cologne.
