Oberbürgermeister verleiht Ehrenpreis Bonner Sport
Der “Ehrenpreis Bonner Sport” wurde von Jürgen Nimptsch, OB der Stadt Bonn, bei einem Festakt an acht verdiente Bonner Sportler für ihre außergewöhnlichen Verdienste in der Sportorganisation verliehen. Der Ehrenpreis wird an Personen verliehen, die sich um den Bonner Sport, seine Vereine und der sportlichen Jugendarbeit besonders verdient gemacht haben. Mit dem Ehrenpreis 2010 wurden ausgezeichnet und erhielten Pokal und Urkunde für ihr großes
Engagement im Sport
- Noureddine Dziri (SSF Fortuna Bonn / Volleyball),
- Thomas Fabula (OTC Bonn / Taekwondo),
- Jan-Günther Naß (Fußballkreis Bonn),
- Toni Riquier (Polizei SV Bonn / Judo),
- Michael Scharf (Vorsitzender SSF Bonn),
- Dieter Steffens (viele Jahre Mitglied im Sportausschuss / 1. FC Hardtberg) und
- Christa Vostell (Godesberger Judo-Club).
“Mit der Verleihung des Ehrenpreises würdigt die Stadt die Bürger, die außergewöhnlich viel Zeit und Arbeit in den Sport investieren. Die Stadt erkennt damit an, dass ohne freiwilliges Engagement die vielfältigen und immer weiter wachsenden Aufgaben in der heutigen Sportwelt nicht zu bewältigen sind.” ~ Stadt Bonn
“Ziel des Preises ist es, denjenigen zu danken, ohne die der Sport und vor allem der Vereinssport in Bonn nicht möglich wäre”,
Laudatio
“Thomas Fabula ist seit über 40 Jahren in der Bonner Kampfsportszene aktiv. Er wurde siebenmal deutscher Meister, 1982 Europameister und 1983 wurde er Vizeweltmeister. Seit 1984 widmet sich der Diplom-Physiker der Trainertätigkeit auf Vereins- und Landesebene sowie der ehrenamtlichen Vereinsarbeit. Der Mitbegründer des OTC Bonn e.V. ist Botschafter für Taekwondo der Sportstiftung NRW.”

Lord Mayor awards Honorary
The “Bonn Sports Award of Honor” was presented by Jürgen Nimptsch, Lord Mayor of the City of Bonn, at a ceremony to eight deserving Bonn athletes for their exceptional services to sports organizations. The honorary prize is awarded to individuals who have rendered outstanding services to Bonn sport, its clubs and sporting youth work. The 2010 Honorary Award recipients were honored and received a trophy and certificate for their great commitment to sports:

“By awarding the honorary prize, the city recognizes citizens who invest an extraordinary amount of time and effort in sports. In doing so, the city recognizes that without voluntary commitment, the diverse and ever-growing tasks in today’s sports world cannot be accomplished.” ~ City of Bonn
City sports association
Hannelore Kendziora, who led the city sports association for 29 years, was honored for her life’s work. “The aim of the award is to thank those without whom sport and especially club sport in Bonn would not be possible”, said Mayor Nimptsch at the award ceremony. He also said the award was intended to highlight the great importance of sport for integration. For more information, visit GA-Bonn.
Laudatory address
“Thomas Fabula has been active in the Bonn martial arts scene for over 40 years. He became German champion seven times, European champion in 1982 and vice world champion in 1983. Since 1984, the graduate physicist has dedicated himself to coaching at club and state level as well as to voluntary club work. The co-founder of OTC Bonn e.V. is an ambassador for taekwondo of the NRW Sports Foundation.”
After his former student Aziz Acharki (national coach) already received the honorary award Bonner Sport in 2009, Michael Scharf, head of the Olympic base Reinland, and his first coach & long-time mentor Dr. Thomas Fabula now followed.
